After talking for almost a year and waited (in vain) the first models on the market, it appears that Acer finally is about to launch its first Chromebook with MediaTek processor, as well as one of the first on the market with this SoC. To give us some information on the data sheet and prices dell’Acero Chromebook R13 is Roland Quandt via Twitter, which has managed to find a network of shops that have added to this list model (with Acer CB5-312T code).
This is a Chromebook 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) touch, with MediaTek MT8173 quad-core processor consists of two core ARM Cortex-A72 and two core ARM Cortex-A53, joined by a PowerVR GX6250 GPU, 4GB RAM and SSD storage 16GB or 32GB depending on the SKU. We know that on board will be also installed a WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 module, but for now we have no information on 3G or 4G-LTE versions. The price in the shops is around € 399 (VAT included), but it could be very far from what the official saw that the Chromebook has not yet been announced, nor nor presented.
It remains to be seen whether Acer has chosen a convertible concept for its Chromebook R13 and if so would be presented as the big brother of the Chromebook R11, presented exactly one year ago at the IFA in 2015 and characterized by a hinge that can rotate the display 360 ° folding it on the bottom and turning the notebook into tablet.
It is not for sure, but everything seems to suggest that the new Acer Chromebook R13 (CB5-312T) will be presented in the first week of September at IFA 2016 in Berlin, with almost immediate availability in time for the back-to-school. So we should continue to follow us because in a few days we will know more.
