Last May, at Computex 2015, Acer has introduced a new Chromebox CXI2. It ‘just a refresh: the Mini PC retains the same chassis and most of the technical specifications that have characterized the first generation, except for the hardware platform. The new Chromebox of Acer, in fact, is based on a chip Broadwell (Core i3 and Celeron, the company said the announcement), which then made it possible in some SKUs integrate up to 8GB of RAM, and a module WiFi 802.11ac .
A few weeks later, Acer Chromebox CXI2 enters the market. It is currently in pre-sales in the US and Europe (especially Germany) in the basic configuration and the first product in the shop pages allow you to get an idea on SKU intended to nearby markets and prices. In Italy it seems not yet available, but we are confident that within a few days (just ahead of the back-to-school), the situation can change; we do not expect major changes compared to the European market, and probably also in our country will reach the entry-level model, what in Germany is indicated with code DT.Z09EG.001.
The Acer Chromebox CXI2 preorder comes with a dual-core Intel Celeron 3205U (Broadwell) 1.5GHz, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, expandable with a microSD card slot, VESA mounting kit and Chrome OS . Connectivity remains unchanged compared to the past with 4 USB 3.0 ports (two with charging capability), Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, an HDMI and a DisplayPort. The price of this model is about 240 €, including VAT and shipping, but also touches on the online 300 euro due to the pre-order.
