Acer announced the new TravelMate B117 notebook, based on Windows 10 Pro, and tailored to the education sector. The product offers some hardware and software features designed to simplify the interaction in the classroom and allow better distribution of materials related to the lessons. Acer did not disclose complete specifications, price and availability, as they are different for each country.
The TravelMate B117 is the first notebook equipped with the Acer TeachSmart solution. The cover has an integrated LED that allows students to report its status and indicate their choices, using four different colors. You can, for example, turn on the LED for the answer to a multiple choice question, or to communicate to the teacher that he had completed the task in class. The LED light can also replace the traditional show of hands, signaling the need for attention to the teacher. Teachers can use interface that displays the global situation.
Acer TeachSmart also allows teachers to distribute material in the classroom and follow students’ progress, using a Microsoft account and sharing of OneNote. This way you can eliminate paper copies and keep in touch with students even outside of the classroom.
The TravelMate B117 has a reinforced frame with a rubber band that protects the notebook from falls and bumps. The zipper opens up to 180 degrees and is resistant to liquids, thanks to the design that allows water to drain. The cover instead bears up to 60 kg of pressure. The hardware includes an 11.6-inch screen, Intel Pentium or Celeron processor, up to 4 GB of RAM, hard disk or flash memory, HD webcam, WiFi 802.11ac, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI. The notebook weighs 1.35 kg and has a thickness of 22.3 mm.
