Acer has announced a new range of professional notebooks. The new series Travelmate P648 is based on Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 (Skylake), with 4GB of RAM DDR4 in SKU based upgradeable up to 20GB and HD 14-inch display (1366 x 768 pixels) or Full HD (1920 x 1,080 pixels). These laptops are designed to provide users – specifically businessmen and professionals – performance for maximum productivity and multitasking. And that’s why Acer Travelmate P648 has earned the title of “ultimate professional road warriors.”
Its chassis is made of carbon fiber, the lid is glass fiber while the bottom and the palmrest are made of aluminum. These elements together give strength and durability to the notebook (and could not be otherwise for a model intended to travel long and frequent), containing the weight (1.67 kg) and thickness (21 mm).
Acer Travelmate P648 is the first notebook in the industry with tri-band wireless module Atheros 802.11ad Qualcomm, then able to use the 60GHz band for speeds of up to 4.6Gbps (about 10 times faster than WiFi 802.11ac).
The Taiwanese company says it will have several configurations and of course different prices to meet the needs of all customers. It can be equipped with various chips, storage of (up to) 512 of SSD and 1TB of hard drive and Nvidia GeForce 840M dedicated graphics. On board is also a HD webcam, dual microphones and speakers, RJ-45 Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, VGA and three USB 3.0 ports.
The software package includes the Acer ProShield Manager suite, which provides tools for security and data management, and is supported by a fingerprint reader and a Kensington lock lock. The operating system is Windows 10 Pro, while the estimated range is around 8 hours. Acer Travelmate P648 become available in the US from April 2016 with prices starting from EUR 799.99.
