The July-August period is always one of the quietest in our industry: begin the holidays, companies close and almost all plans are oriented back-to-school, ie in September. The summer heat, however, does not stop the incessant activity that Acer, a little ‘surprise, today introduced the new family of ultra-portable TravelMate X3.
The first model is the Acer TravelMate X349, but if we know well the Taiwanese company will not take long to launch the TravelMate 15.6-inch X359. It is a notebook display with IPS 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), Skylake Intel processors (up to Core i7), DDR4 RAM memory up to 8GB and a range of storage solutions depending on the various SKUs, but versions top-of-range will be equipped with 512GB SSD. We have no precise details on the battery, but the official statement says as many as 10 hours of battery life per charge, so it should be a high-capacity model.
Reading the technical details, we note some interesting specs: Type-C USB port that can be used with the Acer dock to connect up to two external 4K screens, but also a 720p HD webcam and a large touchpad on a backlit keyboard LED, to facilitate the use of night.
Acer TravelMate X349 has an aluminum frame that weighs just 1:53 kg and measuring 18 mm in thickness. Runs on Windows 10 Pro, which will be useful for digital assistant Cortana but especially for Windows Hello combined with fingerprint sensor for secure authentication. Acer TravelMate X349 will go on sale in autumn in the main markets in USA will arrive in October to $ 649.99, while in EMEA entry-level configuration will already be available from September priced at 480 Euros. Definitely it will be on display at IFA 2016 in Berlin, where it will be presented for the first time in public
