The ASUS N Series are known as multimedia notebooks elegant, with a good hardware and affordable prices. Recently, the Taiwanese company has increased the family by introducing the new ASUS N552 and N752: the design has remained virtually identical to previous models, but the chassis accommodates some more interface and a newer platform based on Intel Skylake. At the moment we do not know when it will be available on the market, so waiting can look at the new ASUS N551VW, among the more valid alternatives. It has almost the same characteristics of an ASUS GL552 (hence the same performance), but lacks the slot M.2 and connector USB Type-C, you will find that instead nell’Asus N552.
ASUS N551VW is already on sale in Europe, and also in Italy, with a price that is around 1000 Euros and in some cases as the 1200 Euros (postage included). There are others who have tried it and can give us the first impressions of use, but in general is a notebook that should pay big news if not for the processor Skylake.
The design is identical to the previous version: finish in concentric circles on the brushed aluminum cover, hard plastic and sturdy frame reminiscent of metal, both inside and on the bottom, thickness not negligible (383 x 255 x 28 ~ 31.5 mm) and weight of 2.7 Kg. It ‘a laptop well-placed, typical of multimedia models, but also attentive to detail with a comfortable keyboard and touchpad backlit and a precise almost “professional”. In short, ASUS N551VW meets the needs of everyone from typers fast film fans.
Turning hardware, ASUS N551 is equipped with an Intel Core or Core i7-6700HQ i5-6300HQ, with 16GB DDR4 RAM (expandable up to 64GB if necessary) and various storage options which include hard disk 2.5 inch SATA3 750GB, 1TB or 2TB with or without a 128GB SSD or 256GB SSD, mSATA slot. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960m is able to manage the IPS panel 15.6-inch full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and HD webcam. This finally also an optical drive choice between DVD, Blu-ray or combo and a SonicMaster sound system with digital amplifier Class D Bang & Olufsen ICEpower. The 6-cell battery is 56 Wh. Connectivity remains unchanged with a WiFi module and 802.11ac Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45), three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, audio jacks, and a Kensington lock.
