Asus Software Applications
Asus launches in turn in the segment of light and thin laptops while boarding a robust configuration. If the black color is still in the game, the chassis is now aluminum unlike other models in the range ROG. The finish is good, slightly better than average. Bending zones are to be deplored in the center of the keyboard and at the outer shell of the screen. Connectivity is complete with three USB 3.0 ports but also a mini-DisplayPort-compatible Thunderbolt port. The Ethernet port is itself absent because of the thinness of the chassis. It is therefore necessary to use a USB adapter when needed. Access to components involves disassembling the underside of the chassis. A little easy operation.
The chiclet keyboard is quite nice but would benefit from firmer. Some regret the absence of softkeys as is the case on some competing models. The touchpad takes advantage of relatively generous dimensions and proves effective.
The tested model is equipped with an IPS panel 4K mate. The brightness and contrast ratio are satisfactory. They, however, are insufficient for comfortable outdoor use. Viewing angles are open. Colorimetry is itself in the middle with a DeltaE near envirion 7 and 67% of the sRGB space covered.
Equipped with an Intel Quad Core processor and a Geforce GTX 960M, the performance is the appointment but remain slightly below those offered by some competing models with identical configurations. In question, the fineness of the chassis and the heat from the components that prevents the full exploitation of Turbo modes of the processor and the graphics card. A concession that allows to enjoy a notebook fairly quiet, including during high stress phases.
Autonomy is around 4:30 in Internet browsing with WiFi active.
