ASUS has published the page of a new ultra-portable: it dell’ASUS VivoBook E200HA, a novelty because it has updated a data sheet and a slimmer design than the older generation of the company’s low-cost notebooks.
ASUS VivoBook E200HA incorporates an Intel Atom Z8300-x5 (Cherry Trail) from 1.44GHz and 1.84GHz in Turbo Mode, with 2GB of RAM on-board (so forget the ability to replace or expand) and 32GB, 64GB or 128GB internal memory eMMC depending on the SKU. The small 11.6-inch screen has a resolution HD (1366 x 768 pixels) and is accompanied by a VGA webcam on the upper frame. But the strengths dell’ultraportatile are others: connectivity, portability and ergonomics.
The new VivoBook E200HA it features the latest generation 802.11ac WiFi module with Bluetooth 4.1. The notebook is nevertheless equipped with two USB ports (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0), a micro HDMI, audio jack and microSD card reader. It seems to lack the USB Type-C on the list of specifications, even if some of the images show the notebook on the right side (look at the picture below!). It ‘all in all a compact notebook (measuring 286 x 193.3 x 17.5 cm) and weighs only 980 grams, including the battery from 2 cells (38 whrs) that seem to provide 12-14 hours autonomy depending on usage. The keyboard is solid and ergonomic (1.8 mm between a key and the other) while the touchpad has been enlarged by 17%, while still maintaining support for multitouch gestures. On board Windows 10 with Office 365 for one year.
It is certainly not a high-end laptop, but an economic machine designed primarily to web browsing, the creation / editing text, to some small business media (photos, videos, movies and so on) but also able to accompany you for an entire workday on a single charge. So ASUS VivoBook E200HA seems fledged successor dell’ASUS EeeBook X205TA, while belonging to a different series.
Since last summer, ASUS is simplifying the brands together under a single brand also different families. It ‘a little’ what happened with the line ZenPad (MemoPad and FonePad), VivoBook (which now also collects the Transformer Book) and ZenBook, then we do not know at the time if the brand “EeeBook” survive or will be absorbed by VivoBook. Taking a look online, in some shop, ASUS E200HA is also referred to as “EeeBook” (model-E200HA FD0004TS) and costs around 200 Euros.
