asus zenbook flip ux560 review
It is called ASUS Zenbook UX560 and Flip is a new hybrid Taiwanese company, basically the big brother dell’ASUS Flip Zenbook UX360 who first discovered the net and found a preview of the Milan Design Week (by the way you looked at hands-on video?). It is not official yet, but for sure with the 13.3-inch model, will be one of the news that ASUS has planned for Computex 2016 in an event called Zenvolution.
And in fact, evolution is the set of ultrabook Zenbook has always been characterized by ultra-thin clamshell notebook, then standard laptops, for demanding users in both design and in the technical specifications. The new Zenbook Flip instead adopt a convertible concept, with two special hinges that allow the display to rotate up to 360 degrees, along the lines of the one integrated in Lenovo Yoga. In short, with one of these devices, you can have a classic notebook and a tablet, but also a device useful for business presentations (tent mode) and home entertainment (standby mode).
But there is something wrong: ASUS Zenbook UX560 Flip is slightly different aesthetically from Flip Zenbook UX360. And ‘more subtle, elegant and refined lines, but the cover has a brushed aluminum finish with vertical stripes (similar to that of the N-Series, for instance) rather than concentric circles, while the hinges are protruding (and not flat as in the smaller model) shiny silver with two bulges in the vicinity of the display and the keyboard tray. The overall look is always very pleasant, but for the first time it seems that Asus has wanted to change the “characteristics” typical family. Evolve, in fact.
Sheet is the most powerful, much higher than that of 13-inch ASUS Zenbook Flip UX560UA, which will be one of the first versions on the market, integrates an Intel Core i7-6500U processor (Skylake) to 2.5GHz and up to 3.10GHz, with RAM memory (up to 16GB supported Intel HD 520, 8GB graphics) and 512GB of SSD storage. The 15.6-inch screen IPS will have a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and will obviously touch, glossy. At the moment we do not know if they are planned SKU with less powerful CPU or qHD screens.
No known optical drive because, despite his size, the convertible is very compact and ultra-thin: 380 x 254 x 18 mm at a weight of 2.2Kg. However, ASUS has chosen a very large keyboard (with numeric keypad) backlit and speaker Bang & Olufsen ICEpower on the bottom. Kit interfaces include three USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.1 Type-C, HDMI, audio jack and microphone, 720p webcam as well as a microSD card reader. On board also 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth and WiDi 4.1, while the 4-cell battery and 50Wh should ensure a good autonomy.
ASUS Zenbook UX560 Flip (UX560UA) will be launched next month and will hit European stores almost immediately, at a price that will be around 1500 Euros.
