Azpen probably will not tell you much, but is the name of a low-cost tablet Texan producer who has decided to expand its business even at the cost notebook sector. The choice was not trivial: Azpen Hybrx is the first laptop of the company that will sell for $ 140, although currently you can buy it at the base price of $ 69 thanks to the campaign on Kickstarter, which will serve to raise funds for the its production. Do not expect high-level technical specifications, but a kit for those who know how to make do.
Azpen Hybrx notebook is a 11.6-inch HD (11366 x 768 pixels), a SoC with quad-core Allwinner A64 (Cortex A53) 64-bit and Remix OS 2.0, virtually the same as the Mini Remix platform. It is not good news: Jide has already announced the Remix OS Release 3.0 that should not be supported by his old Mini PC, so there is reason to believe that Azpen Hybrx (as well as Mini Remix) can not be upgraded to the new release. It will not be a drama because Remix OS 2.0 is based on Android 5.1, but it is good to know that buying one of these devices will need to give up the Android 6.0 features Marshmallow underlying Remix OS 3.0 and any other future update.
Remix OS is a customized version of Android, and is designed as a desktop operating system. E ‘compatible with most Android and you can run them both in “full-screen” mode applications in “windows” smaller that can be resized and repositioned anywhere on the screen. The style is reminiscent of Windows, the task bar at the bottom of applications, for a start button similar to the button, and to many other small changes that will allow Android to run seamlessly on PCs and notebooks without touch display (and Azpen Hybrx not mad ‘ has!).
The company has planned two SKUs: the first entry-level with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, while the other with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage, but both equipped with a microSD card slot to expand the internal memory up to 32GB. The handset features two USB 2.0 ports, a mini HDMI, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, accelerometer, stereo speakers, headphone jack and a 6000 mAh battery. Shipments are expected after the summer, in September.
