Fujitsu Lifebook S937

After the official presentation took place last January with another twenty notebooks, Fujitsu Lifebook U937 was finally announced on the European market (Italy included). The notebook will be available in our stores from April 10 with prices varying depending on the configuration, the model and the destination country, starting from a base of 1 899 EUR. At the time of writing no one online shop has entered the laptop price list, but we are confident that within a few days will be the first online pre-sales.
As you may recall, it is the Lifebook U937 ultraportable lightest ever offered by Fujitsu: weighs just 920 grams, integrates a 13-inch screen and a battery capable of operating for 11 hours continuously, in addition to the most common biometric authentication functions.

And we refer especially to the attention to safety.

Fujitsu Stylistic Q736 ensures maximum data protection through the PalmSecure biometric identification, the unique biometric scanning system of the palm veins developed by Fujitsu – which is more accurate, fast, easy and hygienic than other scanners authentication (fingerprint iris scanners or digital), and SmartCard technology. It also provides even support for a contactless SmartCard, leveraging technology NFC (near-field communication) and mounts encrypted drive and Intel TPM, which enables the secure storage of passwords and access codes, further protecting the device against access unauthorized access to sensitive data.

Fujitsu Lifebook S936

It was not that much time after launch in Japan, the Fujitsu Lifebook S936 is already available on the Italian market although preorder. Successor of the Lifebook S935, launched exactly a year ago, the new model does not change much its connotations both in design and in the technical specifications because essentially the Lifebook S936 is just a hardware refresh. The most important innovation is in fact a new Skylake Intel processor, which obviously supports more RAM memory.

Monclick gives us the cards and the prices of three SKUs reserved to us Italian and, therefore, allows us to have an idea about the models that will soon be on sale online and at major resellers. They are not cheap notebook, also because they have a business-oriented destination, but it could meet the needs of home users pay more attention to productivity and security of their data. The three models are based on an Intel Core i5-6200U processor (Skylake) to 2.3GHz, with 8GB or 12GB of RAM (up to 20GB maximum) and various configurations for the storage 256GB SSD or 500GB HDD. We like to clarify that, usually, Fujitsu offers configurations with more storage capacity and hybrid solutions (SSHD), but at the moment there are no in Italy.

Fujitsu Lifebook S936 2

Fujitsu Lifebook S936

Remains Unchanged 13.3-inch IGZO display, available in both touch version (glossy) and non-touch (anti-reflection), but only in Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and no more WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). Power users will have a backlit keyboard, 4G connectivity / LTE and some precautions for the safety of their data, including the integration of a smart card reader, a TPM module for hardware encryption and Intel Anti Theft Technology to track down the lost or stolen device and possibly erase the memory remotely. A safety latch Kensington and PalmSecure finally complete the picture. But not on all models, here below the main specifications of the three SKUs:

Fujitsu Lifebook S936 (S9360M85ABIT): Intel Core i5-6200U, 8GB of RAM, 500GB HDD, IGZO display non-touch Full HD from 1390 euro (LINK to preorder)
Fujitsu Lifebook S936 (S9360M85BBIT): Intel Core i5-6200U, 12GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, IGZO display non-touch Full HD 1517 euro (LINK to preorder)

The chassis in aluminum-magnesium has 3 USB 3.0, HDMI digital video output and analog VGA, essential for backward compatibility with older external display, a plug RJ-45 and an SD card reader. Like its predecessor, this latest version incorporates a slot that can accommodate an optical drive (DVD burner for three SKUs) but also a second battery to be attached to the main one in order to further extend the maximum range of the notebook. A proprietary port on the bottom also allows you to connect the laptop to a docking station that adds several doors.

We do note that the 6-cell battery should donate 18 hours of autonomy, which could be further extended to 24 hours with the inclusion of a secondary battery. The operating system is Windows 10, but the user can also opt for Windows 7.
