In September we reported on the arrival of Intel’s NUC with a Skylake processor. It is expected that the Core i7 variants with Iris GPU will be released sometime around March 2016. The NUC with a Core i3 and i5 will probably be released this year.
Intel is now planning to provide the NUC with a Core i5 of an Iris GPU. Previously, the Company’s Iris GPUs were only reserved for the NUC with a Core i7 board. That means there will be more affordable NUC with better graphics power, although Intel has not yet announced pricing. The new NUC will be equipped with a full-size HDMI port and an SDXC slot, where the older NUC’s have a mini-HDMI port.
On the site of Intel are already some models announced the new NUC with Skylake processors. The NUC6i5SYK with M.2-SSD and NUC6i5SYH with a 2.5-inch bay, are both equipped with a Core i5 6260U and Iris Graphics 540. We also see the NUC6i3SYK and NUC6i3SYH, both equipped with a Core i3 6100U HD Graphics 520.
