In addition to the ThinkPad Yoga P40, which we discussed recently, Lenovo has launched another mobile workstation. It is called ThinkPad P50s and the name makes us think of a ThinkPad P50, launched last summer with the ThinkPad P70, after a “crash diet” (always the letter S in the nomenclature of the Chinese means a version ultraslim). Lenovo laptop plus describes this as “the thinnest and lightest mobile workstation in the” with premium features and high-end performance. So it all comes back.
Lenovo ThinkPad P50s, among other things also present in the roadmap leaked a few weeks ago, is striking for its versatility: it is a powerful laptop, but also compact and inexpensive (for its category). It will be available with the ThinkStation P310, an entry-level PC with some specific high-end, by the first quarter 2016 to the starting price of $ 1,299. Desktop instead will be priced at $ 729.
At the moment we still know little of its technical configuration: for sure the mobile workstation will feature a 15.6-inch IPS display with resolution 3K Power Bridge technology and Lenovo to extend the autonomy of the system up to 17 consecutive hours. Users can install up to 32GB of RAM and will have several options for storage according to customer requirements. ThinkPad P50s will be based on Intel Skylake high performance (up to Core i7), while the graphics card is not yet known although we can assume an end GPU Nvidia Quadro professional. Do not miss the 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, Card Reader 4-in-1 docking connector, the typical keyboard “precision” ThinkPad with backlight and Windows 10 Pro.
We will know more at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, where perhaps Lenovo will also bring these professional machines, while we have to wait for the European availability ourselves the beginning of 2016. We will be back.
