MSI has announced the launch of a new model of motherboard for Intel socket LGA2011v3, the MSI X99A Tomahawk. Designed for the Intel X99 chipset, this motherboard supports the latest Intel Core i7 “Broadwell-E” and a fact to keep in mind is that natively supports up to 128 GB of RAM DDR4 memory.
The MSI X99A Tomahawk has eight DDR4 RAM memory slots, supporting up to 128 GB total RAM in quad-channel. Need an ATX 24-pin connector and EPS 8-pin power supply to operate, and includes a VRM controller 8 stages to ensure good stability in the processor and RAM, especially when overclock in these components.
The MSI X99A Tomahawk has three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 sockets supported configurations Quad-SLI / CrossFireX, plus two PCI-Express 3.0 x1 for other devices. It incorporates a 32 Gbps M.2 socket and other U.2 32 GBps linked to PCI-Express for maximum speed storage devices, and a 16 Gbps SATA-Express SATA 3 regular eight.
It also has two USB 3.1 ports (one connector standard Type-A and another with reversible Type-C), eight USB 3.0 and eight USB 2.0 / 1.1 (this number of ports includes internal heads the board itself and ports the rear). It also has two Gigabit Ethernet ports on the rear, both with Intel controller.
For now MSI has not said when it will be available in stores this new motherboard or at what price we can find it, but since the announcement have done now is quite likely that not long before we leave doubts about these two unknowns
