First known as shield portable console, and then renamed shield portable Android TV especially in homage to Google’s operating system, is a Mini PC that allows you to stream video online, playing games and other Android app on your home TV. But unlike any other media streamer on the market, Shield also supports technologies GameStream and GRID Nvidia which – as you may already know – let’s play stream with PC titles from the cloud or from a computer connected to your home network.

Shield Android TV is equipped with a Tegra processor X1, the most powerful available today in the offer of Santa Clara, an octa-core 64-bit graphics with 256 cores and support for 4K content up to 60 fps. This model will be sold bundled with a free title (Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel), a credit card $ 30 for the Google Play Store and a 90-day subscription to Google Play All Access. Among the accessories, we point a remote control with voice search by $ 50, from $ 30 a booth and other controllers for the price of $ 60. When the gaming console (and its accessories) are available only in the US and we do not know if Nvidia decides to foreign marketing also for the European market.

It ‘definitely a device among the most powerful on the market and, at the price of $ 199, is also much more affordable of the latest Playstation and Xbox. Those who choose the basic model, will find the 16GB (actually only 10 GB free) Pochini for some titles Android, being forced to buy at least a micro SD bigger, those who opt for the more expensive version probably will consider ‘ purchase of the Xbox and PS.

Shield, however, has another ace up its sleeve: allows you to play PC games in the living room without connecting the computer to the TV. GameStream allows streaming of games on your home network, if you have a PC with a compatible graphics card and a fast network, while GRID is a subscription service that allows streaming of games on the Internet. In short, both solutions allow you to play many titles that otherwise would never have been available on a console Android
