The ultralight Parrot Disco is powerful and the impressive flying performance: a top speed of 80 km / h thanks to a brushless motor with a propeller bi-folding blades, withstands winds of intensity equal to 40 km / h and offers an autonomy of 45 minutes flight. Not a previous flight experience is required to drive the Parrot Disc: automatically takes off and lands and is equipped with a powerful automatic pilot able to help in the control of the flight. For example, when the remote control of the driving lever is inclined towards the right, the fixed-wing drone curve in the same direction, while the autopilot is concerned to slightly tilt the wing and to increase the motor speed.
Parrot Disco is a drone ultra-compact (58 x 115 cm) fixed wing in expanded polypropylene (EPP) and reinforced with carbon tubes is therefore both lightweight (750g) and robust. The Parrot Disc wings are designed to optimize both stability and speed in flight, thanks to an exclusive unique aerodynamic structure that reduces friction and improves the elevation. The ends of the wings are equipped with fins Winglet (the vertical part in the shape of hook) and mobile ailerons – such as those of the planes – that are positioned in the rear edge to support the guide.
The immersive experience of Parrot Disco is really intuitive and accessible to all. Parrot has created a viewer FPV (first person view), Parrot Cockpitglasses, projecting the pilot in the thick of allowing him to see real-time aerial photography captured by the full HD front camera of Disco. Simply by entering the smartphone, the pilot will be able to view in real time the shooting captured by Full HD front camera of 14 megapixels of Disco. Pilots can then enjoy a completely immersive viewing, wide-angle, high-definition images with perfectly stable, without distortion. In addition, you can also follow the way of Disco thanks to radar display, and telemetry data – placing the pilot in the cockpit of the drone.
The Parrot Disco flight can be controlled very precisely, thanks to the new compact remote control – Parrot Skycontroller 2. The model airplane enthusiasts will also pilot the drone of Parrot fixed wing from your RC remote control, in full manual mode and after connected to a module.
To prepare the drone fixed wing on takeoff, the pilot simply has to press the button located at the top of the prow of Disco, then click on the “takeoff / landing” on the remote Parrot Skycontroller 2 and finally launch the drone in the air as if it were a frisbee. Once taken off, Parrot Disco rises automatically at high altitude to an altitude of 50m and is stationed in the air in a circular motion until it receives instructions from the pilot. To land, the pilot must press the button ‘takeoff / landing’ on your remote. Parrot Disco tilts its flap up and down to 6m above sea level. At this point, the drone receives signals from dall’altimetro, by the ultrasonic sensor and from the vertical camera and the engine thrust is reversed, to reduce the speed and to ensure a soft landing in a straight line.
Completely redesigned to reduce the boundaries between the game and the remote controls RC remote controls, Parrot Skycontroller 2 is lightweight (750g), compact and very easy to handle. The two joystick you operate individually to ensure greater precision in flight, controlling acceleration of the drone, direction, altitude … Custom buttons ‘direct access’ and ‘trigger’ give access to many functions and options of fixed-wing drone and Parrot Cockpitglasses. These options include the “direct view” feature that allows the pilot to see Disco through the smartphone’s camera when wearing the FPV Parrot viewer.
Parrot Skycontroller 2 can also be connected to a smartphone / tablet iOS or Android through the new FreeFlight Pro application, which gives the driver the ability to see real-time video without interruption and a platform to perfect the Parrot Disco settings (eg : geofencing, limiting altitude or distance, recording of video memory 32GB wing flying …).
Parrot Disco is equipped with an autopilot with a power of data processing without equal: Parrot C.H.U.C.K (Universal Control Hub & Computers for Kit), which controls all phases of flight thanks to the presence of numerous sensors. The Parrot Disco stability is derived from algorithms developed by Parrot C.H.U.C.K. adapting the parameters for the entire duration of the flight and prevents any device lock when the driver makes a risky maneuver.
The Pitot tube, used in aeronautics, provides the information about the “Airspeed board computer”, a crucial indicator that allows the engine to adapt its real-time power and ensure that the device gets up. To simplify the handling, Parrot Disco is equipped with an inertial navigation system (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and altimeter) and a GNSS module (GPS + GLOONASS), which allow the automatic maintenance direction, altitude and flight speed. Finally, for maximum security, FreeFlight Pro application integrates the “Return Home” and “geofence” functions that allow Parrot Disco automatically return to the off position, thanks to the precision of the GPS.
Design and unique performance for Parrot Drive that offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy an immersive flight, even without any technical knowledge, and record high-quality aerial shots using the memory to 32 GB in this drone fixed wing.
The FreeFlight Pro app is available for free on the AppStore and Google Play. It has an intuitive interface that allows the user to adapt the controls and flight parameters at their own level. The driver is therefore able to handle the speed, limit the altitude or distance, manage Wi-Fi, the picture / video parameters and can see the video footage captured by Parrot Disco in real time from their smartphone or tablet iOS or Android.
Parrot cloud, free and integrated application FreeFlight Pro, saves the data of every flight. The FreeFlight Pro app also allows you to configure the Parrot Skycontroller 2 to customize the commands and access the function ‘Flight Plan’ (available in-app paid feature) to create automatic flights easily
Parrot Disco will be available from September to 1299.90 euro, but the price includes the drone, Parrot Skycontroller 2 and Parrot Cockpitglasses.
