Samsung does not distribute multiple notebooks and Chromebook in Europe, but in the past year has continued to upgrade its mobile offering at least in the US. No surprise then that the Korean company has announced a few hours ago the refresh (hardware) of its line of ultraportable ATIV Book, with the launch of two new models:
Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro is a notebook with 15.6-inch display (3840 x 2160 pixels) for sale at $ 1,599;
Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin is a convertible notebook Yoga-style (360) 13.3-inch display with qHD + for sale at $ 1,399.
Both notebooks should be available in the US on Best Buy and Samsung on the official store by the end of November.
Samsung ATIV 9 Spin is the most interesting and, although the price is not the cheapest, is an important development compared to the past, not only in terms of hardware but also aesthetic. Inside an aluminum frame, with the usual rounded edges and glossy, it has an integrated Intel Core i7-6500U (Skylake), with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage and 13.3-inch display (3200 x 1800 pixels) touch, which can rotate backwards overturning the bottom and turning the notebook into tablet. Despite the equipment, much more powerful than any other Samsung ATIV Book now in circulation, the convertible is very compact (15 mm thick) and lightweight (1.3 kg).
It has a backlit keyboard, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, stereo speakers, 3 USB 3.0 ports, a full-size HDMI, a microSD card reader and a battery that – according to Samsung – should ensure a maximum range of 7.3 consecutive hours .
But if you’re looking for a notebook largest (but still solid) and definitely more powerful, we recommend taking a look at the new Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro which has a thickness of 17.8 mm and a weight of about 2 kg. In this case However, the Korean company has chosen a powerful Intel Core i7-6500HQ (Skylake), 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M with 2GB of memory GDDR2. This notebook has roughly the same technical characteristics of the convertible, but additionally has four speakers, a USB 3.1 Type-C and support for 4K video. Obviously being bigger and more powerful, ATIV Book 9 Pro needs more energy, bringing the total to 6.5 hours autonomy. Both devices are based on Windows 10
