Samsung announces its new line of SSD PCI-E, designed to offer a performance level of 950 Pro series but at a price apparently lower. Comes to life then the series Samsung 960 EVO, with NVMe drives that use the now famous 48-layer 3D-VNAND and the new Polaris proprietary controller memories.
According to the states’ company, Polaris will allow to have performance above the SSD 950 Pro; but it is not everything, the source reports that this drive has the same hardware of the Samsung PM961, they do not surprise so performance features:
Transfer-rate read / write: 3000/1150 MB / s
4K random performance: 360,000 read IOPS, 280,000 4K write IOPS
There are no details on the price, we know that the Samsung 960 Evo hit the market with a form-factor M.2 NGFF-2280 and PCIe add-on card, all with PCI-E 3.0 x4 interface; cuts available to provide SSD 128, 258, 512 and 1024 GB.
