This morning, the engineers of the FCC have certified a new tablet ASUS zenPad. Its product code (internal) is ASUS P027 but its motherboard is ASUS Z500M license plate, and this is certainly the theme with which it will be marketed. The official entity certifying documents provide us with details about its main features and offer us a first “sketch” of the device. Still lacks a name but, from our analysis, this new tablet could be called ASUS zenPad S 10 or ASUS zenPad A 9.7, which he had already spoken in the past.
ASUS zenPad S 10 mockup
(The picture above is a mockup, the fruit of our imagination)
For all we know, ASUS Z500M will be equipped with a 9.7-inch display, whose resolution is not yet known, even if we assume at least 2K (2048 x 1536 pixels) in direct competition with the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. “On board, the ‘Taiwanese company would choose a SoC hexa-core MediaTek MT8176 2.1GHz (2 core ARM Cortex-A72 and four Cortex-A53) with IMG GX6250 600MHz, supported by 4GB LPDDR2 RAM and storage from 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of memory eMMC. There are also two cameras 5 megapixel (front) and 8 megapixel (rear), WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.1, plus a 5900 mAh or 5790 mAh battery (that’s why we think that the display resolution will be very high.) Among the most interesting news also find support for Z Stylus, the digital pen is compatible with other zenPad (Z580CA, Z300C / CG / CL) and sensitive to 1024 pressure levels.
It is a very unique data sheet that would dell’ASUS zenPad S 10 or zenPad A 9.7 (I wonder what will be its name), the first zenPad with 9.7-inch display with a 4: 3. This figure is confirmed by the FCC, but also from the first online shop who have entered in the device list, albeit with some mistakes in the technical specifications. For now we have identified two models: ASUS Z500M-1H010A gold (gold color) and Z500M 1J014A-gray color (gray). The price – to be taken with the tongs – is 350-400 euro exchange rate.
The device is very interesting and we will continue to follow its development. From experience, however, the passage in the corridors FCC anticipates little the launch, so expect surprises soon.
