Fujifilm has officially announced the launch of the new mirrorless camera X-A3, a model that opens the catalog of compact cameras with interchangeable lenses of the Japanese manufacturer acting as a replacement for the X-A2. Fujifilm has worked on several fronts to improve the standard equipment of the previous model, without affecting those that have been its distinctive features: compactness, low price (compared to other models in the catalog), vintage look and the absence of an optical or digital viewfinder , replaced by tilting LCD display.
The main innovations of the new model are substantiated in the new sensor 24,2MP which takes the place of that from 16.3 the X-A2. Even if the number of megapixels is similar to that of the sensors integrated in the flagships X 2 and X-Pro-T2 is not of the same sensor, but the upgrade compared to previous X-A2 is equally consistent (to be evaluated, of course, the ‘effective yield of the photo).
Fujifilm, in presenting the new X-A3, places special emphasis to the optimizations introduced for self-portraits: the LCD viewfinder 3 “remains folding, as in the previous X-A2, but can be oriented vertically and cover now an angle of up to 180 degrees (175 degrees in the X-A2), also improved the resolution of the display which now has 1040k pixels (920k pixels in the X-A2). There’s also a Eye Detection AF system, which is activated automatically rotating the display 180 degrees and it accelerates the self-timer operations, and the new Portrait Enhancer mode that improves the tone reproduction in portraits.
The autofocus system of the previous model has been refined and can now count on adding Zone and Wide / Tracking mode, which use 77 autofocus points to capture moving subjects. Refinements to the sector also video recording: the camera does not support video recording in 4K, like the previous model, but were now populated with the new mode for recording in 1080 at 60p, 50p and 24p, in addition to that at 30p.
Do not miss the opportunity to exploit the popular Fujifilm’s image filters that simulate the film effect – a total of 11, including among others the PROVIA, the ASTIA and CLASSIC CHROME – and shooting modalitò Panorama and Time Lapse. The remaining specifications highlight the ISO sensitivity that covers the range from 200 to 6400 ISO and which can be extended up to 12800 and ISO 25600, the electronic shutter which ensures the presence of shutter speeds up to 1/32000 of a second and a ‘ range of approximately 410 photos with a single battery charge.
The new Fujifilm X-A3 will be available starting in September, also in kit version includes the objective stabilized FUJINON XC16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS II. The price announced by the manufacturer is equal to $ 600 for the kit version. Whilst waiting for the official announcement with the expected price for the Italian market.
