Gigabyte Aero 14 and Alienware 13 GeForce GTX 1060

Although at the moment the news involve only the US market, it is said that within a few weeks can be no updates for Europe (and for Italy). It is worth, therefore, investigate the technical characteristics of two new recently launched gaming notebook in USA: Gigabyte Aero 14 and Alienware 13. As you may already know this is not new models, since they are already on the market (also in our ), but the latest versions are hardware refresh of the configurations available today. It mainly involves upgrading the graphics.
Gigabyte Aero 14 was launched at Computex Taipei 2016, where the same Taiwanese company assured us that the range would also be marketed in Italy by the year. And so it was: you can buy a Gigabyte Aero 14 in our stores but the model for sale has a Core i7-6700HQ with 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, display 14-inch Full HD and Nvidia GeForce GTX 965m. The newly updated version is much more powerful and can therefore satisfy the most demanding users in terms of performance.

However, according to Gigabyte, the new Aero 14 integrates an Nvidia GeForce 1060 GTX (Pascal) and a 14-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The rest of the configuration is expected to remain unchanged: Core i7 (Skylake), up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD M.2 and long lasting battery life of 94.2 Wh. The design does not change, showing off the usual aluminum frame in three colors (orange, green and black), which measures 335 x 250 x 19.9 mm (1.89 Kg), nearly a record for a gaming notebook. The price should be around 1500-1600 euro, thus replacing the model currently on the market in the same price range. But we have not yet precise information on the availability and price expected for the Italian market.
The second gaming notebook is the Alienware 13, Dell has launched in early September. This model measures 330 x 269 x 22 mm (can exceed 2.5 kg) and integrates a 13.3-inch display, a quad-core Intel Skylake-H processor and GPU Nvidia GeForce 1060 GTX, along with a 76Wh battery for long gaming sessions. US list prices start at US $ 1,199 (although currently the basic version is on offer in 1176 US dollars), but if you are looking for a complete gaming notebook you’ll have to discard the SKU entry-level TN display with 1366 x 768 pixels and opt for the most equipped configurations (but also more expensive) with IPS Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels), or OLED QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). The latter is a panel with a contrast ratio of 10000: 1, high color saturation, response time of 1ms dell’Alienware but will increase the price up to $ 1,799 (on offer in 1764 US dollars).

The notebook is equipped with an infrared camera for facial recognition through Windows Hello and other security features, audio from 7.1 channels, stereo speakers, Thunderbolt ports 3 / USB Type-C, a Type-C USB 3.0 port, two USB 3.0 , an HDMI 2.0, one Mini DisplayPort 1.2 and two audio jacks. The entry-level model has an Intel Core i5-6300HQ chip, 8GB of RAM and 180GB of storage, but you can configure it with (up to) a Core i7-6700HQ, 32GB DDR4 RAM and 2TB of space on two SSD. As you may already know Alienware 13 will be connected to the external dock Alienware Graphics Amplifier, which will allow you to take advantage of any graphics card for desktop of your choice.
