Lenovo IdeaPad 710S and 700

At CES 2016, Lenovo renews its IdeaPad Series also in the mainstream. In the list there is not only the big (and bad) IdeaPad Y900, but also three other models: IdeaPad IdeaPad 710S and 700, in versions 15 and 17 inches. Despite having roughly the same name (after all changes just one digit), the two families do not share the specifications or design. Rather they are completely different and you can see yourself in the picture and in the hands-on video below. That said, let’s see what they offer.

Lenovo IdeaPad 710S is a compact notebook, an ultraportable with a nice display, the latest Intel processors and a good battery able to hold out for an entire working day (8 hours). The chassis is fine and elegant, very nice even in its silver finish, measuring 307 x 214 x 13.9 mm and weighs 1.16Kg. Inside we find Intel Skylake (up to Core i7), with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of LPDDR3 storage PCIe SSD. The 13.3-inch IPS has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), well handled by the GPU Intel HD Graphics or Intel Iris Graphics. No news regarding connectivity: 2 USB 3.0 ports, a card reader 4-in-1 micro HDMI and audio jacks. Lenovo IdeaPad 710S will be available in July 2016 for the starting price of $ 799.

Lenovo IdeaPad 700 family consists of two models: 700-15ISK and 700-17ISK, respectively 15.6 and 17.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels). Both notebooks have almost all the technical details in common, but as usual there are some aesthetic differences and techniques that emphasize the intended use. And let’s start from these: Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK measuring 384 x 265 x 22.7 mm and weighs 2.3 kg with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950, while Lenovo IdeaPad 700-17ISK measuring 418 x 283 x 25 mm and weighs 2.7 kg with a card Nvidia GeForce GT 940.

The hardware platform is common and consists of an Intel Skylake (up to Core i7), with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD PCIe or 1TB HDD or SHDD. The kit interfaces is the same and includes two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0, VGA, HDMI, audio jack combo, Card Reader 4-in-1 (SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC), RJ-45, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. The autonomy in this case does not exceed the 4 consecutive hours. The IdeaPad series 700 will be available from June at starting price of $ 799
