The market for gaming notebook is being reborn, surprising, and analysts expect sales of over $ 35 billion by 2018. The interest seems catalyzed by two fundamental factors: the availability of more powerful hardware platforms, graphical and computing , and the proliferation of games ever greater involvement and adrenaline, sometimes even free. Lenovo has “sensed the deal” and, at the CES 2016, launches a new model of gaming notebooks for Videogamers hardened. His name is Lenovo IdeaPad Y900 (not to be confused with the PC IdeaCentre Y900 launched at IFA) and will complement the already known family of gaming machines, IdeaPad Y700.

Under the big frame (425.4 x 315.2 x 35.9 mm 4.6 kg), Lenovo has installed Intel Core sixth generation, up to Intel Core i7 Skylake-K with unlocked multiplier, which should ensure overclocking “mobility”. At his side, they could be installed 64GB DDR4 RAM (4 x SODIMM) and up to 512GB of SSD PCIe RAID 0 or up to 1TB HDD SATA 3. The matte 17.3-inch IPS screen has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), which can be managed without problems by powerful dedicated graphics card Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M with 4GB / 8GB of GDDR5 memory. The 6-cell battery and 90 Wh ensures 5 hours of battery life, which objectively is not much but it’s the best you can have on a 17-inch gaming notebook whose average life is 3 hours.

The design is reminiscent of the line IdeaPad Y700, although in large format: Lenovo has chosen a black brushed aluminum frame with carbon fiber covers, embellished with red details a bit ‘everywhere, on speaker grilles, mechanical keyboard backlight ( programmable multi-color), interfaces and touchpad. The overall look is aggressive, but not so eccentric is well in an office. The audio system is instead based on two-speaker JBL stereo (2 + 2W) subwoofer (3W) and Dolby Home Theater.

Connectivity instead provides a USB 2.0 and three USB 3.0, a USB Type-C, a card reader 4-in-1 (SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC), SPDIF, audio jacks, Gigabit LAN, HDMI output 2.0 , Display Port connector and Kensington lock. 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 complete the technical card. We do also note the presence of a special button One Key Turbo, which enhances system performance. Lenovo IdeaPad Y900 will be launched in June 2016 with prices starting at $ 1,999, then we’ll talk about next summer
