Lenovo ThinkPad L560 and L460 Intel Skylake

At CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Lenovo has also renewed its fleet with “performance from desktop”. The new Lenovo ThinkPad L560 and L460 are simply refresh hardware ThinkPad L550 and L450 launched exactly one year ago, in the same fair.

They are distinguished from other ThinkPad because they have a rugged chassis (military and environmental certification), advanced security and enterprise operations, with nearly 12.5 hours of battery life per charge. In practice they are suitable for business users very demanding with regard to productivity, but do not give a compact laptop. And in fact the new ThinkPad L560 and L460 are: the first measure 377 x 255 x 27.6 mm in 2.3 Kg, while the other has dimensions of 339 x 235 x 24.3 mm in 1.9 Kg. The thickness and the additional space in ‘ L560 enabled the integration of a DVD burner.

Inside the case, however, Lenovo has updated the hardware platform with Intel vPro Skylake-U, from the powerful Intel Celeron 3955U Core i7-6500U (only for the smallest model), always accompanied by 16GB (L560) or 32GB ( L460) of RAM maximum, and various storage solutions that provide HDD 500GB to 1TB 5400rpm / 7200rpm, 500GB HDD and 8GB of SSD or SSD from 128 to 512GB. To differentiate the two notebooks are however screens: ThinkPad L560 has a 15.6-inch display, while the ThinkPad L460 has a diagonal of 14 inches, but both will be available with HD resolutions (1366 x 768 pixels) and Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels ), IPS and anti-glare. The graphics are different, since only the 14-inch version can be optionally configured with a GPU AMD Radeon R5 Exo Pro with 2GB of DDR3 VRAM as an alternative to Intel Graphics HD 510/520.

The park gates no surprises with VGA, Mini DisplayPort, audio jack 3.5 mm, Card Reader 4-in-1 smart card reader, Expresscard, modules 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet. Do not miss the usual fingerprint reader on the palm rest and Trusted Platform Module (TPM). At the moment we have no information on price and availability of the new Lenovo ThinkPad L560 and L460, but should replace older models in the same price range (under $ 700) in a matter of weeks.
