Lenovo has introduced two new mobile workstation. ThinkPad P50 and P70, respectively, 15.6 and 17.3 inches, are aimed at graphics professionals, architects, engineers, designers and those who need power on the move. Have a technical, very similar but high level, starting from the processor.
The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 and P70 are equipped with the new Intel Xeon E3-1500M v5, the first Xeon Mobile Company of Santa Clara. We have not detailed technical specifications (frequency, cache, number of cores and so on), but we know that it is a 14nm processor, based on Intel architecture Skylake. Will support ECC RAM (which stands for Error Correction Code), usually reserved for servers, with systems in place to track down errors contained in the information stored and mechanisms to correct the error returned, technology related to security (vPro) and Thunderbolt 3.
Not surprisingly then, the new Lenovo workstation can integrate up to 64GB of RAM DDR4, 4 SODIMM slots, and up to 1TB of storage (SSD) or 2TB (HDD). The graphics component is entrusted to a GPU Nvidia Quadro (not yet know the exact model), while the kit includes interfaces (in addition to the Thunderbolt) a HDMI 1.4, mini DisplayPort 1.2, ExpressCard, SDXC, 4 USB 3.0 ports, WiFi 802.11ac (Intel 8260), Bluetooth 4.1, Gigabit Ethernet and 4G / LTE (Sierra EM7445) Optional. Like the best ThinkPad, these are equipped with a fingerprint reader but the ClickPad has been replaced by three physical buttons below the touchpad.
To operate similar equipment hardware, Lenovo has redesigned and re-engineered cooling system of its workstation. Lenovo FLEX Cooling has two fans connected by a heatpipe and placed next to the CPU and GPU. When the system executes tasks heavier graphics, the system provides more cooling to the Nvidia Quadro, but if it comes to activities involving the processor pour the air towards Intel Xeon.
