We knew it would come, but not so soon. A few minutes of the announcement of MeegoPad T03, basically an improved variant of the T01 MeegoPad, CNX-Software locates on Amazon also MeegoPad T04 which is very different from what we expected in hardware and design. It is not a key as the previous models, but it has more the air of a Mini PC desktop compact and round (measuring approximately 10 x 3.5 cm and weighs 250 grams), polycarbonate with the ports on the back plate, which allows you to position the device also vertically.
For the first time, the Chinese company abandons the Bay Trail processor to integrate into a new MeegoPad T04 quad-core Intel Atom Z8300-x5 (Cherry Trail) to 1.44GHz (and up to 1.84GHz in Turbo Mode) with Intel graphics HD Gen8 (2W SDP), accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC memory expandable with a microSD card slot. On board again, as in the TV Stick, we find a module 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 host, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack and a micro USB for power, but here in more c ‘it is an Ethernet port. A button allows you to turn on and off.
The Mini PC should be sold with Windows 8.1 Pro and preloaded unlicensed, upgradeable to Windows 10. It is not clear if Intel Cherry Trail will support Linux out of the box or will have the same problems we had with Bay Trail. MeegoPad T04, in the variant black or gray, is already for sale on the Asian and American markets at a price of about 139 dollars and, although we have not yet official confirmation on its technical equipment, it seems the perfect competitor Tronsmart Ara x5.
