Onkyo has announced the arrival of two amplifiers and a pre / processor for home cinema. Specifically, these are the TX-RZ1100 amplifiers, and PR-TX-RZ3100 RZ5100. All new models are posed on the higher end. The exterior lines are substantially the same introduced with the RZ800 and RZ900 amplifiers.
Onkyo has paid particular attention to the digital to analog conversion. The integrated DAC are five in all for each product. We find a stereo DAC AK4490 (384kHz / 32-bit) for the front channels (left and right), a double AK4458 (768kHz / 32-bit) multi-channel stereo and a double AK4388 (192kHz / 24-bit) to manage the ‘sending audio in secondary areas (Zone 2 and Zone 3).

All novelties are equipped with Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and Google Cast support, AirPlay, Tidal, Spotify and TuneIn. Commands can be sent via a special application for iOS and Android devices. RZ1100 RZ3100 and have the new Hi-Current System Onkyo Digital Amplification and AccuEQ and AccuReflex technologies (which are useful for the sound calibration).
They are obviously supported all major audio formats, including DTS and Dolby Atmos: X (also with the DTS Neural technology: X, capable of emulating the effect given by the encodings defined “object-based” when using a lossless audio track). And ‘always present even the VLSC technology (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) for processing the signals.

The construction uses separate circuits for digital and analog so as to minimize interference. Other features include support for various types of audio files (from USB or from the local network streaming: DSD up to 11.2 MHz, PCM up to 192kHz / 24-bit, FLAC, WAV, ALAC, AAC, MP3 and WMA) and HDMI 2.0a inputs (therefore compatible with HDR), and HDCP 2.2.
Turning to individual product specifications, TX-RZ1100 can handle up to 9.2 channels with an output of 200 W for each (6 Ω, 1 kHz, 1% THD, 1 channel driven, IEC). The HDMI inputs are around 8 (a head) with two outputs. We also report the presence of the analog pre-out to 11.2 channels, a USB port and a phono input.
Onkyo TX-PR5100 – retro
TX-RZ3100 brings the number of channels to 11.2, with an amperage equal to 200W (6 Ω, 1 kHz, 1% THD, 1 channel driven, IEC). The rest of the budget is not significantly different. PR-RZ5100, finally, is able to manage up to 11.2 channels. All new models will be available from September. List prices have not yet been disclosed.
